The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. (Psalm 92:12-13 NIV)

When our workplace conduct is pleasing to God we will thrive and grow. We are members of the body of Christ at all times, even when we are not at church. When we interact with others, make decisions and complete tasks, our goal should be do everything in excellence. Even though our occupation may be secular and may have absolutely nothing to do with faith, we should still execute our responsibilities in a way that shows reverence to Christ. As a result, our work will be executed superbly and we will grow spiritually.

Our employers have likely outlined the procedures and standards of our work. There may specific competencies we must master in order to realize job advancement. Likewise, God uses our secular employment to develop spiritual competencies so that we can grow in His kingdom and for His purposes.

Prayer-Father, you know my work and the challenges I face. I want to perform at my highest level and I want to please you as well. Lord, help me with the projects and tasks I must complete so that I reflect your image in my workplace. Amen
