Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. (Proverbs 4:14-15 NIV)

God provides for us monetarily through our jobs. He presents assistance and helpful people to us in order to accomplish His will and our career goals. Sometimes opportunities are presented to us and we are uncertain as to whether they have come from God. How can we tell? There are two steps which we can take to find out. First, we can take a proactive approach by praying to God daily concerning our career. We can pray a blessing over our work day before we clock in or check our email. Throughout the day we can check in and acknowledge His presence. At the end of our shift, even if it did not day did not unfold as planned, we can thank Him. By staying in communion with God throughout the day, we will be more attuned to the Holy Spirit and will recognize a wicked spirit when they come into our presence. Secondly, we can avoid unhelpful and troublesome people. Rather than attempting to get along, compromise or win them over, keep a professional and appropriate distance. Do not adopt their unethical practices or conduct. Do not participate in lewd or unprofessional dialogue. Perform your job to the standards which your employer expects, however, maintain your Christian integrity and protect yourself from wickedness.

Prayer-Father I love you and your ways. Thank you for your word and the Holy Spirit. I am grateful to have your guidance throughout my workday. I pray that you will commune with me and help me to discern good and bad opportunities. In Jesus name. Amen
